Volkswagen I.D. Buzz EV concept slated for production

Volkswagen I.D. Buzz EV concept slated for production The EV is styled like the old Microbus.Much like BMW's i range, Volkswagen has been branding EV concepts with a common name, in this case I.D. The automaker recently showed the I.D. Crozz at this year's Auto Shanghai. While that may appeal to the hot selling crossover crowd, the I.D. Buzz is sure to raise the pulse of old-school VW fanboys. For years, Volkswagen has teased us with concepts like the 2001 VW Microbus, the Bulli, and the Budd-e, only to pass when it comes to a production version. Obviously times have changed, and a stylish EV may be just what the automaker needs.

Volkswagen 's I . D . Crozz II EV gets tweaked front and rear styling, along with a firm production date: 2020. The brand rolled out its I . D . EV hatchback concept last year, the I . D . Buzz EV van concept back in January, and the I . D . Crozz EV crossover concept at the Shanghai auto show this past Spring.

The Volkswagen I . D . Crozz is an electric concept car based on Volkswagen 's new all electric MEB platform. It was first shown as a prototype at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. A revised version, named the " I . D . Crozz II " was shown at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Volkswagen wants everyone to know that it's going electric. The brand rolled out its I.D. EV hatchback concept last year, the I.D. Buzz EV van concept back in January, and the I.D. Crozz EV crossover concept at the Shanghai auto show this past Spring. For VW's home auto show in Frankfurt it evidently ran out of new EV show cars, so it gave the I.D. Crozz a quick color change and some styling tweaks to turn it into the I.D. Crozz II.

The Crozz II remains a roughly Tiguan-sized four-door crossover coupe with two electric motors fed by a 83-kW battery pack housed between the axles. The 201-hp rear motor is the primary drive source, while the 101-hp front unit provides supplemental power. Range is given as 311 miles using the notoriously generous European standard.

VW exec expected to plead guilty for Dieselgate, could get 169 years It's unlikely the sentence will be that long, but that's what happens when you're staring down 11 felony counts.Oliver Schmidt is expected to plead guilty on August 4 in Detroit, Reuters reports, citing a court spokesman. One of eight executives charged thus far, Schmidt was picked up as he tried to leave the country in January. He's been held in the US since that time.

With the I . D . CROZZ concept , Volkswagen introduces its all-electric SUV. Until the CROZZ reaches us, we’ve still got a great selection of VW vehicles here at Volkswagen of Salem County.

The power-opening front doors are conventionally hinged; the rears are sliders. On the show car, there is no B-pillar. The interior of the Crozz II is said to be closer to production than that of its predecessor. So, too, is the tweaked front and rear styling; the headlights, for instance, "are more representative of those in a production car."

The topic of production actually is the biggest news here. Volkswagen has confirmed that the I.D. Crozz will go on sale in 2020, the same year as the regular I.D.—which may morph into a sedan, as VW now describes it as a four-door car with a large boot lid. Those two EVs will be key to enabling the company to reach its goal of 100,000 electric-vehicle sales that year. (The I.D. Buzz follows two years later, in 2022.)

A 1994 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 Is Still Great Today

A 1994 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 Is Still Great Today When was the last time you saw one this nice? Matt Farah over at The Smoking Tire just found out that it drives as well as it looks, thanks to its rev-happy, 220-hp VR6 and some choice mods installed by its owner. The Corrado VR6 makes as much power as a current GTI, but in a package that only weighs around 2700 pounds.See the latest from Volkswagen on MSN AutosThis Corrado's former owner installed a front limited-slip differential, adjustable coilovers and new suspension bushings. As Farah finds, these mods give the VR6 excellent handling.

After years of taunting the world's major carmakers as slow-footed dullards, Tesla should be getting the sinking feeling that the establishment brands are finally starting to put the tiny company in their crosshairs.

243-373 miles on a single charge. Based on the two videos released by Volkswagen , the latest iteration of the I . D . Crozz Concept will feature a two-tone exterior treatment with white pillars and a red finish on the main body.
