Buick's New Electric Concept Is Very Round

Buick's New Electric Concept Is Very Round Buick has an image problem in the U.S., where it’s seen as a brand for The Olds, and where it’s planning to take its own name off of its cars in 2019. But in China, where Buick sold 1.2 million vehicles last year, it’s a completely different story. Electric is also big there, which brings us to the big Buick news of the day: an electric concept for China called the Enspire. The Enspire will debut later this month in Beijing, and reflects Buick’s continued push into China and what is turning out to be the future of the brand.

Buick teases electric concept crossover for China . It’ll debut April 17 in Shanghai, could be based on the Chevrolet Bolt. Buick released a teaser image of a new all- electric concept SUV it's calling the Enspire.

Befitting an all-electric vehicle, it is chock full of technological features, including a head-up display that seems to project on the entire windshield, which makes navigation directions an augmented reality feature, overlaying the route and points of interest over the actual road ahead. Also, the instrument panel OLED touchscreen (for organic light-emitting diode) touchscreen is not the traditional square shape.

The interior design theme is “surround skyline.” We don’t know what that means, but it’s light and spacious thanks to large windows and thinned out panels, such as the narrow centre console clad in wood and suede.

The exterior has more of a raised sport compact profile than a sport utility look, with smooth panels accentuated by strong feature lines. Aerodynamic cues add a sculpted look to the overall presentation.

The 2018 Buick Enspire all- electric concept SUV. The Envision was announced in China , where the Buick nameplate is well-loved. It will be interesting to see if GM releases this sharp SUV under a different brand though.

Under the skin, Buick’s eMotion electric powertrain generates 410kW (550 hp) but it is not immediately known how many electric motors it uses. Buick LaCrosse Spied With A Modest Facelift .
A new grille and some added elements should keep the large luxury sedan fresh for another few years. Believe it or not, the Buick LaCrosse is still kicking. A high-class Avenir trim level added an extra element of luxury to the aging sedan for 2018, but now it’s ready for a refresh. Our spy photographers captured the updated LaCrosse – covered in camouflage, of course – testing on public roads ahead of its debut. For what it’s worth, it doesn’t look like much has changed from the current model. The front fascia, though covered up, gains some new cues that help sharpen the look.
