  Ford Edge ST is Good News for Oakville <p>There was good news for Oakville at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with the announcement Ford will build the 2019 Edge ST in Oakville.</p>This is also the first time a Ford SUV/CUV is offered at the ST trim level which means it has been enhanced by Ford’s in-house performance division.

Road & Track contributing editor Marshall Pruett breaks down the new electronics used by the series in his latest video. There's a number of significant changes to explore under the gorgeous new skin of the 2018 IndyCar.

The biggest change comes from UK motorsport legend Cosworth, which supplies a new steering wheel-mounted LCD data screen system for all IndyCar teams. Cosworth also offers a carbon-fiber steering wheel with this display built in, or teams can opt to build their own wheels with the displays integrated. This display is a huge improvement over the decades-old non-graphic unit used by IndyCar prior to 2018.

  2019 Ford Edge: Four-Cylinder Only, More Standard Safety Tech A streamlined engine lineup could be a double-edged sword.Everybody is sure to be talking about the new Edge ST’s 335 horsepower, but it’s of some significance that Ford has switched the rest of the Edge lineup to four-cylinder power. The 2.0-liter turbo four carries over from last year with an additional five horsepower, bringing its total to 250; peak torque is unchanged at 275 lb-ft. (For comparison, the now defunct 3.5-liter V-6 made 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft.) Ford promises that Edges equipped with the four-cylinder EcoBoost will be more efficient than before but has yet to release fuel-economy numbers.

Relocated radiators in the new bodywork also necessitated moving other electronic components, like the McLaren ECU. The most obvious change for fans, though, is a new graphic display mounted on the side bodywork near the engine intake. Timing and scoring can show pretty much whatever they want on this screen, from pit-stop time to racing position or current speed.

The race was delayed 27 minutes.A 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 pace car crash led to a 27-minute delay of the 2018 Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle. General Motors executive vice president of global product development Mark Reuss was behind the wheel. Both the driver and passenger Mark Sand, an IndyCar official, were unharmed and exited the vehicle after the incident.
