2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA Spied in the U.S. and Germany

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA Spied in the U.S. and Germany Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz debuted a lightly refreshed GLA lineup. The sport compact crossover received minimal changes to the car’s front and rear ends, new fog lights, optional LED headlights, and some additional interior bright work. However, while the refresh extended the car’s life, this model isn’t long for this world as Mercedes-Benz is hard at work designing the next generation here and abroad, thatwe've captured during testing.First spied in Germany, our intrepid photographers caught the GLA mule late in its testing as body cladding and camouflage isn't as abundant as it was when spied a few months ago.

Ever since Mercedes - Benz announced that it was returning to straight-sixes last year, we've been waiting to find out when this new engine would come to the US. Our friends at Car and Driver report that the 2019 CLS will get smooth inline - six power right here in the US.

We were disappointed to learn that Merc's inline-six wouldn't be sold in the US-market 2018 S-Class, but we'll finally get our hands on it next year. Our friends at Car and Driver report that the 2019 CLS will get smooth inline-six power right here in the US.

First, we'll get the 2019 CLS450, which offers 367 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque from its 3.0-liter six, and later, there'll be a more powerful AMG model, the CLS53. Car and Driver doesn't have specs on the CLS53, but we've heard that it should make around 430 hp.

New Mercedes-AMG 53 models to pack 430 horsepower turbo inline-six

New Mercedes-AMG 53 models to pack 430 horsepower turbo inline-six The new engine is expected to debut as the Mercedes-AMG CLS53.We're not going to complain that cost cutting and parts sharing with four-cylinder engines brought about the return of the inline-six. Instead, we'll bask in the glory of silky-smooth revs and perfectly balanced combustion. In the S-Class, this new 3.0-liter engine makes 408 horsepower and over 368 pound-feet of torque. That's a significant step up from the already hearty 333 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque developed by the current V6. In AMG guise, the engine is expected to make about 430 horsepower.

2019 Mercedes - Benz CLS revives the straight six. It also has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Most Popular Cars By State. Vehicles That Can Get You 200,000 Miles. Cars That Depreciate Fast. Under the slinky hood is the first application of Mercedes - Benz 's new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline - six .

A lot has changed since the lithe Mercedes - Benz CLS landed on our collective consciousness in 2004. The Merc’s four-door coupe profile proved to be a popular and profitable shape, inspiring an army of stylish me-too four-door coupes.

Car and Driver's Davey G. Johnson, who snagged a ride in a CLS450 prototype, says that the 3.0-liter inline-six provided strong acceleration and a nice, if too-quiet noise. This engine also uses a 48-volt electric system dubbed EQ Power that Johnson says makes stop-start functionality totally seamless.

As we've reported before, this 48-volt system is based around a crank-mounted electric generator that powers the water pump and A/C compressor. This system also allows Mercedes to replace the traditional starter motor and belt-driven alternator with a single electric unit. So this engine doesn't actually use belts at all.

Mercedes won't offer a V8 in the new CLS, though, since it would likely overlap with AMG's upcoming four-door GT. Other markets will get four-cylinders and diesel engines, but the US only gets Merc's inline-six.

Car and Driver says we'll see the 2019 CLS450 at the LA Auto Show next month, and the AMG should arrive not too long after. Hopefully, we'll see this engine appear in other Mercedes models soon too.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Ditches its Front Solid Axle for an Independent Suspension .
Mercedes-Benz doesn’t seem to want to wait for the Detroit Auto Show to talk about its all-new 2019 G-Class which, let’s be honest with ourselves here, looks like every other version of the G-Class that has ever existed since the 1970s. Yet Mercedes-Benz promises an all-new product from the ground …What you need to know is that the new G-Class is new where it counts, and Mercedes-Benz wants to reassure everyone that it will meet expectations in terms of its off-road capabilities and ruggedness. Personally, I am somewhat worried about the fact that the 2019 G-Class will lose its front solid axle in favour of an independent suspension setup.
