Refreshing or Revolting: 2018 Acura RLX
From too boring to too bold?
The 2018 Acura RLX receives the diamond pentagon grille we first saw on the 2016 Precision concept, before appearing on the 2017 MDX. The grille is larger than the shield or "beak" design of the pre-refresh RLX, but it features about as much chrome as before. The headlights sport an updated take on the "Jewel Eye" LED headlight theme, and the housing shape draws inspiration from both the Precision concept and the NSX sports car. The hood is also more sculpted, featuring bulging curves at the sides.

The 2018 Acura RLX , emphasizing a new design direction and featuring tech based on the NSX’s hybrid drive, begins arriving in showrooms today. Acura went all out refreshing their new flagship sedan.

Acura ARX-05 Prototype Race Car Hits Pebble Beach

Acura ARX-05 Prototype Race Car Hits Pebble Beach Acura took the covers off the ARX-05 prototype race car today at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week. Next year, Acura and Team Penske will offer up two of these vehicles to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The race car features a 3.5-liter V-6 engine based on the unit that powers the Acura TLX, RLX, MDX, and RDX. It's unclear exactly how much power it will make, but this IMSA car should be targeting around 600 ponies. This AR35TT engine has powered class winners at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2011-2013 as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and LMP2 World Endurance Championship in 2012.

As luxury sedan sales continue to decline, Acura makes a strange decision to give their flagship model an extensive overhaul 2018 . The latest RLX is certainly the most impressive sedan Acura has ever built, but will it be enough for buyers to start flocking to Acura showrooms again?

Acura 's top-of-the-line luxury sports sedan, the 2018 RLX , begins arriving in dealer showrooms tomorrow with new front and rear styling inspired by the new Acura design direction and its signature diamond pentagon grille.

The latest RLX continues to be available in two Sport Hybrid all-wheel drive trims: the base Tech version starts at C$65,490, while the Elite starts at C$69,990. Those prices are unchanged from Canadian 2017 MSRPs, unlike in the US, where the Sport Hybrid was reduced by US4,050.

Acura says that the RLX Sport Hybrid is the most powerful model in its line-up after the NSX.

It couples that V6 engine to three electric motors and the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. The result is a powerful sedan that generates 377 total horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque. The Sport Hybrid gets a motor-integrated 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The RLX interior also gets improvements, including redesigned Milano leather seats with contrasting piping and stitching. There’s also an optional Espresso interior and black headliner.

The RLX offers features such standard features as a heads-up display, remote starts system and heated steering wheel, while a Krell audio system ventilated seats, power rear sunshade and heated rear outboard seats are available on the Elite.
