Four Things to Love About the 2019 Toyota Avalon

Four Things to Love About the 2019 Toyota Avalon Adaptive suspension, exhaust tuning, and infotainment fixesDespite declining sales as buyers continue to shift toward SUVs, Toyota put a lot of noticeable effort into the redesign of the full-size Avalon sedan. Much like the 2018 Camry, the 2019 Toyota Avalon brought a much-needed update to a very outdated model. This is a ground-up redesign, and brought with it a bundle of extra technology that makes the Avalon one of the most desirable in its segment. Here are four of our favorite new features.

Say goodbye to the Toyota Yaris iA. Eliminating any traces of the ill-fated Scion brand, Toyota is calling its Mazda-based subcompact the Yaris sedan for the 2019 model year. Other than this change in nomenclature, it's business as usual with this small sedan, which receives a few small changes including a revised grille and new trim level.

The 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan features a new grille with a honeycomb insert, as well as exterior piano black accents and chrome trim. A new XLE grade tops the lineup with leatherette-trimmed front seats, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, illuminated entry, HVAC system with auto climate control, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, shifter, and parking brake. Both LE and XLE models receive a new rear lip spoiler and 16-inch alloy wheels with a new dark gunmetal finish.

Video Compares the Kia Forte to…a Lamborghini Aventador Why do you need 700 hp when you can have wireless charging?Normally, consumers would cross-shop the new Kia Forte with rivals including the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, or Toyota Corolla. But in a new video, Kia pits its compact sedan against a much more aspirational car, to put it mildly. And the results aren't disastrous as you'd expect.

Standard features on the base Yaris L include push-button start, 7-inch touchscreen with backup camera, cruise control, power outside mirrors, 60/40 split rear seat, and safety system with a low-speed pre-collision system.

Like before, the Yaris sedan features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can still choose between a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Toyota estimates fuel economy will remain at 30/39/34 mpg city/highway/combined (6.9 L/100 km combined) for the manual and 32/40/35 mpg (6.7 L/100 km combined) for the automatic.

The Yaris sedan is essentially still a Mazda2 in Toyota clothing. Formerly known as the Scion iA and then the Toyota Yaris iA, it slots below the larger Corolla as an entry-level subcompact car. Speaking of the Corolla, Toyota recently showed off the Corolla hatchback, which replaces the Corolla iM that also used to fall under the Scion brand as the Scion iM.
