FoMoCo at the Classic Auto Show 2018

FoMoCo at the Classic Auto Show 2018 The Classic Auto Show is a wonderfully diverse car show. Euro, JDM, domestic and everything between is there. Within each genre, the diversity is equally impressive. The selection of Ford Motor Company vehicles was broad, from pre-war to modern, and very well displayed. Though there were plenty of Mustangs, there were plenty of lesser seen FoMoCo products.

So when Ford invited me to Grattan Raceway to check out their 2016 GT 350R , I kept my eye out for some engineering goodness. I was impressed. Ford Shelby GT 350R Mustang: This Is It.

One of the men behind the new Ford GT supercar, Ewing has left his gig at Ford to move on to greener pastures. And we mean that literally. The former Ford GT Assistant Chief Engineer now calls Karma (formerly Fisker) home.

Jamal Hameedi, lead engineer at Ford Performance from 2013 to 2018, has taken on a new role at Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations: The Engineer Behind the Ford GT Has Left for JLR© Ford The Engineer Behind the Ford GT Has Left for JLR Jamal Hameedi, Ford Performance chief engineer from 2013 until last month, has left the blue oval for Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), according to his LinkedIn profile. A spokesperson for Ford Performance confirmed his departure in an email sent to Road & Track.

Hameedi was an important figure at Ford Performance, as he presided over development of the GT supercar, the Mustang Shelby GT350, the F-150 Raptor, Fiesta ST, and Focus ST and Focus RS. Prior to the creation of Ford Performance in 2013, Hameedi was chief engineer for Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) division starting in 2005, and was the program manager for the 2005-2006 Ford GT.

Two Identical Untouched Ford GTs Are Heading To Auction

Two Identical Untouched Ford GTs Are Heading To Auction Both have a combined 4.6 miles on their clocks. Last year we reported about a "brand new" 2006 Ford GT that came up for sale with a mere 10.8 miles on the clock. Well, we owe you an apology. That car isn't brand new, it's "well-used." Well-used in comparison to two more Ford GTs that have come up for sale – both of which have a combined mileage lower than the one that came up last year.At next month's Mecum auction in Houston, a pair of pretty much identical Ford GTs will be offered for sale. A 2005 model with 2.6 original miles on the clock, and a 2006 model with just two.

UPDATE: Ford spokesman Mike Levine called to say that Ewing was “not the chief engineer of the Ford GT ,” despite being identified as such in both a January 2015 interview with Car and Driver and an April 2015 interview with Hot Rod.

Roy Lunn, the engineer behind the Le Mans-winning Ford GT 40 sports car, the first Mustang concept and the forefather of the modern SUV and crossover thanks to his work developing the first unibody Jeep Cherokee, has died.

It's unclear why Hameedi decided to head to JLR. Ford did announce that it will stop selling most of its car lines in North America in favor of crossovers, but it's unknown if that was a contributor to his departure. If he stayed at Ford, Hameedi would still likely be busy. He'd be in charge of developing Ford Performance cars for other markets and hotter SUVs like the Edge ST and recently announced Explorer ST.

This is also the second high-profile departure from Ford Performance in the last year. Dave Pericak, chief and creator of Ford Performance, moved to a new role in Ford's manufacturing division in October. Additionally, one of the biggest champions of Ford Performance, Raj Nair, was ousted from his role as Ford North America president earlier this year over unspecified "inappropriate behavior."

Jaguar Land Rover's SVO division is responsible for all sorts of high-performance, and bespoke versions of the automaker's products. For fast cars, SVO has created the Jaguar F-Type SVR, F-Pace SVR, XE SV Project 8, and Range Rover Sport SVR. We've reached out to a JLR spokesperson for more info on Hameedi's appointment at SVO.

Ford’s Baby Bronco Rendered, Ready To Take On Jeep .
Ford imagines this compact SUV as being perfect for folks that enjoy the outdoors. During an event in March, Ford detailed some of its product plans for around the next 24 months, and the automaker dropped some major surprises there. For example, there's a Mustang-inspired crossover on the way, and the Blue Oval is preparing a rugged compact SUV, too. The automaker doesn't yet have a name for the model, so the teams simply refers to it as the "Baby Bronco" since the model seems to be a tinier interpretation of the upcoming Bronco revival.
