Red Wine May Be Good for Your Teeth (Seriously!)

Red Wine May Be Good for Your Teeth (Seriously!) Most of us are guilty of pouring another glass of red, justifying it with the facts: it has free-radical-fighting antioxidants, it’s low in calories, and provides cardioprotective benefits. Here’s another reason to host wine night: The drink can possibly protect against gum disease and tooth decay, too. Yes, even with the dreaded red wine mouth after one-too-many glasses, red wine could actually be good for your teeth. A new study published in the Most of us are guilty of pouring another glass of red, justifying it with the facts: it has free-radical-fighting antioxidants, it’s low in calories, and provides cardioprotective benefits.

It appears Jennifer Garner took a few pointers from rap goddess Cardi B. During The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ s annual Mother’ s Day special, the daytime host filled her studio audience with first-time expectant mothers and invited Garner to be her cohost.

We knew Jennifer Garner was a lot of things: actress, baker, and one fit mommy, but, never did we think she'd pull out a rapper card. During The Ellen DeGeneres Show’sannual Mother’s Day special, Garner co-hosted alongside DeGeneres where the two opened with an epic video where Jen raps (with serious skill) about motherhood - and nods to how key wine is in those years.

The video begins with the adorable 46-year old actress lip-syncing about all the good parts of being a parent. "Motherhood is a beautiful thing. It fills your heart with joy and makes you wanna sing ..." but then Garner quickly switches things up, throwing her acoustic guitar away and breaking into full verse. Let us also not forget that Ellen filled the entire audience with first-time pregnant women. Her hilarious lyrics cover all the truths about being a new mommy - from "retain[ing] more water than the Hoover Dam," to cracked nipples (yes she went there). Our favorite line is, "you’ll be up all night, groggy all day, jonesing for a bottle of Chardonnay.” Round of applause to Garner for not stopping at just a glass. You are a hero.

After five seasons, and a string of failed relationships, she married superstar (and possibly slightly insane scientologist) Tom Cruise. Five-ish years after their daughter Suri was born, the two went through a very public divorce.

"Move over Childish Gambino, there's a new music video in town," Ellen said to Jen, which sums up our exact thoughts.

Then Garner gives the audience of expectant women sweet advice (apart from the wine talk) on being a first time mom.

"Here’s the thing. You will get your bodies back, you will get your lives back. You can still travel. You can still have fun. You can still go back to work or not. You can breastfeed or not. You will be best friends with your kid and then someday you will realize you’re actually angry with them and that’s OK. You’re going to be great because it’s your experience and it’s your baby and it’s your body. It’s going to happen the way you want it do. You're starting your families."

And that there is some seriously adorable wisdom. Keep doing you, Jen.

I Tried the Viral Red Wine Spaghetti Recipe, and Here's What Happened

I Tried the Viral Red Wine Spaghetti Recipe, and Here's What Happened I Tried the Viral Red Wine Spaghetti Recipe, and Here's What HappenedSince both cooking spaghetti in tomato sauce and Martha Stewart's one-pot pasta hack turned out to be total failures, I had to see if the same was true for Food and Wine's spaghetti cooked in red wine. Spoiler alert: it was the opposite. Thousands of people, like me, were intrigued by the publication's recipe video that went viral on Facebook, so I had high hopes that the pasta would taste as delicious as it looked. The verdict is in, and all I can say is this fast and easy dish will no doubt be added to my regular dinner rotation.

‘Skin-Contact’ Is the Next Wine Term You Need to Know (and It'll Totally Impress Your Somm) .
You're over rosé and you're not feeling a red tonight, but you want something interesting—what's a wine drinker to do? Don't fret: Thanks to wine expert Marissa Ross, we're all about skin-contact bottles. Here's why it's the next wine term you should seek out: Basically, skin-contact wines are white wines made like red wines: White wine grapes are fermented with the skins on (for anywhere from days to months), and that's what gives them their deep color and funky flavor. It also means they'll have similar tasting characteristics to red wines: think more tannic, yet still acidic with minerality. And before you say, “um, isn't that just orange wine?” hear us out: Skin-contact wines might be orangebut they also might be pale gold, yellow or almost red in color. (Trust us: Don't order wine based solely on color. Just don't!) Might we suggest a crisp, approachable skin-contact Friulano, for beginners? Or if you can handle the funk, look for a bottle from Georgian Kisi grapes. Plus, what's more fun than schooling that *fancy* sommelier when you ask for the skin-contact bottle? (Other than drinking it, of course.
