(video courtesy Wochit News) As far as dieters are concerned, Weight Watchers is considered one of the more lenient lifestyle plans. Foods aren't restricted, rather points are: Participants have a daily allotment, and within it, pretty much anything goes - even margaritas and chocolate chip cookies, though they'll cost you more points than a hunk of grilled chicken. In the past, fruits and veggies have been zero points, meaning you could eat as much produce as you wanted in a day, but a new plan is completely changing the system.

I cut out sugar for a week — and it completely changed the way I think about my diet

I cut out sugar for a week — and it completely changed the way I think about my diet It wasn't easy to avoid addd sugar, because it's in everything good. Weight Watchers just launched a much more lenient lifestyle plan with tasty food choices to choose from. “When I first heard about it, I thought it was too good to be true — the fish, beans, and corn in my favorite tacos are now zero points !”

Weight Watchers just launched Freestyle, which expands the brand's zero point list to more than 200 foods. Fruits and veggies are still included, but so are things like grilled fish, eggs, and nonfat yogurt. It seems counterintuitive that allowing people to eat more foods with no repercussions would result in weight loss, but a six-month trial produced better results than trials of previous Weight Watchers programs. Participants experienced an average weight loss of nearly eight percent after six months, and more than 93 percent of participants reported that the new Freestyle program helps them feel healthier.

Historically, participants haven't been supportive of plan changes, but Weight Watchers' most notable follower is already on board with this one: "When I first heard about it, I thought it was too good to be true - the fish beans, and corn in my favorite tacos are now zero points!" said Oprah in a press release. If Oprah is game, we're game, but let's make one thing clear: The talk show queen's beloved bread didn't make the zero-point cut.

How One Man Lost 50 Pounds—and Kept It Off After Age 50

How One Man Lost 50 Pounds—and Kept It Off After Age 50
Not everyone is doomed to the hell of yo-yo dieting. Take it from Dave Campbell, who lost 56 pounds more than a decade ago—and has kept it off ever since. How often do you hear that?
By 2005, Campbell was back up to 203. "I wasn’t even 40 yet!" he recalls. "That’s when the light came on. I said to myself, 'That’s it.'" Campbell threw himself into dieting and running and in under a year was down to 144. Twelve years later, he admits he lost too much too soon. “I’d never recommend anyone do what I did—I went cold turkey, cut out everything, deprived myself of even healthy foods. It was dangerous.

Should You Drink Low-Calorie Wine? .
Someone may be bringing a bottle of 'diet' wine to your holiday gathering. It's supposed to have fewer calories and contains a lower amount of alcohol. Whether you're ordering cocktails at a holiday party, sipping champagne at a celebratory dinner or cooking with wine (in your glass), you're consuming calories without ever taking a bite. Mixed drinks like frozen margaritas and eggnog, for example, can weigh in at more than 500 calories, while most wines and beers deliver at least 120 calories – and that's for an actual (read: not heavy-handed) serving.
