Do you not speak for days before finally giving in and apologizing? Do you make your partner grovel and beg? Or do you have hot make up sex?

According to new research, when it comes to heterosexual couples, men and women want different things from their partners before they make up after a fight.

Specifically, women prefer heartfelt apologies and quality time, while men would rather receive a "kind gesture" — preferably the sexual kind.

The study, called "Sex Differences in Reconciliation Behavior After Romantic Conflict" and published in Evolutionary Psychological Science journal, looked at the best ways of reconciling a conflict between partners.

When couples hit a rough patch, men and women want different things from their partner before they make up , new research suggests. Women seem to prefer heart-felt apologies and quality time. But men appear to prefer a kind gesture, particularly sexual favors.

Couples Fight – According to a new research, couples across the world do have rough patches and when they have a quarrel, both the partners want different things from each other before make up .

Researchers asked male and female participants to complete a questionnaire that asked them to pick specific actions that they would do or have done to make up with their partner after a fight. These answers were then grouped into 21 categories of possible behaviours.

These categories were given to a different group of participants who were asked to choose which actions they preferred.

Researchers found that men preferred sexual favours and nice gestures from their partner to help mend the rift.

"Women may thereby use sexual favours as a way to reconcile with their male partner," study leader T. Joel Wade, of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Penn., said in a news release.

"Doing so may communicate to their male partner that they are still sexually accessible and, as such, do not want to end the relationship," he added.

Do These 3 Things, and You’ll Add 7 Years to Your Life

Do These 3 Things, and You’ll Add 7 Years to Your Life Certain conventional wisdoms about aging end up being pure fantasy (i.e. genes aren’t the primary determinant of how you age). Certain verifiable, statistically backed up aging wisdoms can end up being wrong as time goes on (i.e. married couples live longer). These three healthy behaviors, in particular, are pretty much common sense by now, but it’s easy to forget just much they pay off: If you don’t smoke, maintain a moderate weight, and moderate your alcohol consumption, you will add seven additional years to your life.

All About Men . What Women Want . So in short, every couple fights and sadly cannot control it but don’t worry about it, there are many ways that you can use to make things work out with the love of your life after a disagreement or a fight .

In Home / Make Up After a Fight . . 1. Show her that your love for her is more important than the fight . How you do this varies – one woman may need a hug after a fight , while another does not want to be touched at all while she is still angry.

For women, sex wasn't high on their list of must-haves for a reconciliation — according to the study, they preferred it when their partner spent time with them after a fight and apologized. (Sounds about right!)

"Women may rate spending time together more highly because this behaviour signals a partner's willingness to invest effort and limited resources (e.g. time) into their romantic pair-bond," explained Wade. "Such actions by a man may signal the likelihood of a potentially high parental investment which women prefer."

Women also preferred their partner showed remorse by crying. According to Wade, this could be because they like it when man get in touch with their emotions and it shows that they're being honest.

"Women may find the act of their male partner apologizing to be an effective reconciliation tactic because it is viewed as an altruistic act. A man's apology may redirect the cost of romantic conflict to himself rather than to his partner and thereby demonstrate his ability to provide emotional support and incur personal costs for his partner," Wade said.
