This Disgusting Phone Habit Could Make You Sick—and You Do It Every Day

This Disgusting Phone Habit Could Make You Sick—and You Do It Every Day Let’s be honest: We’re all guilty of smuggling our phones into the bathroom, only to settle our bums down and scroll (and scroll and scroll) through our Facebook or Twitter feeds. And you’re not alone; a recent survey found that 90 percent of people use their phones in the bathroom. Sure, it may be a more entertaining alternative than the stack of old books and magazines sitting next to the toilet. But this bad habit could put your health at risk, according to a recent study published in the journal Germs.Researchers from London’s Metropolitan University swabbed 27 cell phones of high school students for a variety of bacteria.

Don’t worry, everyone; Slater eventually got out of the bathroom . Apologies to everyone whose greatest fear is being stuck in an airplane restroom, but this is a good reminder that even WWE Superstars can get humiliated from time to time, too.

WWE Superstar Heath Slater closed 2017 on a pretty awkward note.

According to FoxNews.com, 34-year-old Slater was on a flight to Miami for Monday Night Raw on December 31 when he got stuck in an airplane bathroom after the knob on the inside of the door broke off as he attempted to exit.

After learning of the WWE Superstar’s plight, crew members on the flight jumped into action and unhinged the door to the bathroom before forcefully unlatching the lock with a screwdriver. A short time later, Slater was freed from the tiny commode.

“I locked it and then I went to unlock it and the knob came off and I’m like, ‘Oh you gotta be kidding me’,” Slater said after getting out of the bathroom.

Slater later said the restroom was becoming very hot while he waited to be rescued, but he was thankful to the crew for freeing him from his mid-flight ordeal.

The WWE Superstars made it successfully to their Florida destination, and Slater was on the New Year’s Day edition of Raw where he lost to Braun Strowman.

WATCH: Here’s The One Drink You Should Order On An Airplane .
Drinking on a plane is a surprisingly complicated business. Many of the beverages that you would normally order aren’t great options at 20,000 feet in the air. The exuberant bubbliness of Diet Coke can aggravate flight attendants, drinking coffee or tea on planes can be risky business for some pretty icky reasons, and there’s not an airline on the planet that has mastered the art of sweet tea. While you may be tempted to skip the drinks all together, dehydration can be a real problem on airplanes. Not only can it make you more prone to air sickness, but it can increase your chances of getting jet lag, contribute to high-altitude headaches, and make it more likely that you’ll get sick after you get off the plane. Not to mention, airplane cabins are already dry, so skipping water would make your skin even drier after the flight. All that’s to say, skipping the drink cart on a plane isn’t a great idea. So, what should you order during your flight? The short answer is water. It will keep you hydrated, won’t annoy the flight crew, and is necessary for staying alive. That said, it’s kind of boring and many of us already have water bottles in our carry-on luggage. Plus, since airlines give so few perks these days, you want to take advantage of the ones they do offer, like free soft drinks and juice. Soft drinks are fine, of course, but if you’re looking for a healthier option, some people swear by tomato juice.
