  Edmonton mother charged with murder in methamphetamine death of newborn An Edmonton mother stands accused of murdering her 11-day-old daughter, who was found to have died from a lethal dose of methamphetamine, Edmonton police said Thursday. Michelle Rice, 31, faces a charge of second-degree murder.The charge stems from March 29, when police and paramedics learned of a baby in distress at a home near 72 Street and 83 Avenue, in the east side community of Kenilworth.The newborn, who was reported to have stopped breathing, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

RCMP in Red Deer say the bodies of a 39-year-old male and a six-year-old girl were found inside a home in the Lancaster neighbourhood Sunday afternoon. 

In a news release Monday, Mounties said the father and daughter were found about 3:30 p.m. at a home on Lister Crescent during a welfare check. RCMP gained entry into a secure residence and found the bodies inside.

RCMP say the names of the victims are not being released at this time.

CTV News Red Deer . Highlights. Red Deer RCMP said officers were called to the Lancaster neighbourhood in Red Deer for a welfare check, police gained entry into the locked home and found the bodies of a 39- year - old man and his 6 - year - old daughter .

“Initial investigation suggests that there is no threat to the public,” police said. 

The girl’s school has been notified and counsellors are being arranged for any affected teachers and students, RCMP said. 

“On behalf of the RCMP, I want to express our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, “ Supt. Ken Foster said. “This is a tragic loss that affects our whole community.”

Records show that the home is owned by a Robert Lesslie Malcom Campbell. 

Neighbours confirmed Monday that Campbell lived alone at the home and his daughter was only seen there occasionally.

Police say they will be working with the medical examiner’s officer to determine cause of death for the father and daughter. An autopsy is scheduled to take place Tuesday morning.
