A 38-year old man is in custody after police say they found his stash of $65,000 in heavy equipment stolen from people evacuated from B.C. wildfire zones.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit started investigating after a tip about a "potential prolific property offender" operating in the wildfire zone near Williams Lake, B.C., according to a statement.

They discovered heavy equipment stolen from wildfire evacuees stashed on a remote property in the Beaver Creek area outside Williams Lake.

Shane Brady of Big Lake, B.C., has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and is expected back in court on July 20.

1 arrest and multiple weapons seized following threats against firefighter in Williams Lake .
Williams Lake RCMP have arrested one man and seized six rifles and two handguns after threats were allegedly made against a firefighter working in the area. Police say the firefighter reported being confronted by a group of men Monday near Springfield Road.One man allegedly threatened to kill him if he continued to conduct controlled back burning in the area.  According to police, another man in the group appeared to have a handgun attached to his hip.RCMP say they arrested a 57-year-old man thought to be armed during the confrontation.
