Kamloops police have identified a suspect wanted in a firearms incident that took place Saturday evening at the Tournament Inn.

“In the interest of public safety and to further the police investigation, Kamloops RCMP are confirming they are seeking Michael Shawn Boyer,” read a media release shared Sunday morning, along with a photo of Boyer.

The incident took place Saturday evening in the parking lot of the Tournament Inn, located just off the Trans Canada Highway in Kamloops. Few details have been released but it’s believed an attempted arrest resulted in gunfire that sent one officer to hospital and a suspect on the run.

Police are now searching for Boyer, a 41-year-old Kamloops resident. He is described as a white man, about 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, with short brown buzz-cut hair.

“Boyer is considered armed and dangerous,” according to police. Investigators remained on scene Sunday.

Anyone who has information on Boyer’s whereabouts is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 150-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
