'I'm going to be myself,' Coderre says, no matter what polls say

'I'm going to be myself,' Coderre says, no matter what polls say Montrealers aren’t sure they want to give him a second mandate and they think he’s arrogant, but Denis Coderre is not about to change his style. “I’m 54 — I’m not going to change,” Montreal’s incumbent mayor told reporters Monday when asked about a new Radio-Canada poll that shows most voters think he’s arrogant. Another poll showed similar results last week.“I’m going to be myself,” he said. “You know, authenticity provides you the right to make mistakes. I’m human. We’re not perfect.

A 36-year-old man who was the victim of an attempted murder early Sunday morning in Montreal, was once on a list of Quebec’s most wanted fugitives.

Tivon Bradshaw is in stable condition after being shot at the intersection of Mansfield and St-Antoine Sts. Bradshaw had been attending a private party when a dispute spilled out into the street. Police found him lying on the ground when they arrived on the scene about 3:15 a.m. No arrests have been made.

In 2006, Bradshaw made Quebec’s most-wanted list after he went on the lam following the shooting of a gang member in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in 2003. Police wanted to charge Bradshaw with the first-degree murder of Abdus Shahid Decoteau, 22, who was gunned down outside the former Peel Pub on St. Jacques St. W.

At the time, police said Decoteau was killed to avenge the shooting of another gang member that had been killed several months earlier.

Bradshaw, who is from Côte-des-Neiges, was eventually located in the U.S. and was returned to Montreal. He was tried three times for the killing of Decoteau. The first two trials, in 2012 and 2013, ended with a hung jury. Bradshaw was acquitted following a third trial in 2014.
