A trip to Aruba and early retirement for his wife are in the future plans of Windsor resident Bruce Cheswick — thanks to his luck on one of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s newest games.

On Wednesday, Cheswick went to the OLG’s Prize Centre in Toronto to score a $225,000 win on The Big Spin: The multi-platform Instant game that starts with a scratch ticket and can lead to a momentous turn on a physical gaming wheel at the Prize Centre.

Cheswick — who described the experience as “euphoric” — said he usually plays Pro-Line or other Instant games, but he decided to try The Big Spin because he finds the game concept attractive.

Players first scratch their $5 ticket for a chance at money prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000.

If they scratch the words “Spin,” they go to an OLG retailer for validation — and to watch an animated wheel spin on the retailer’s lottery terminal screen.

If the computer graphic spins to “Big Spin,” the player is awarded a visit to the OLG Prize Centre for one turn on the actual, six-foot-tall Big Spin wheel. Everyone who spins the wheel wins a prize, ranging from $100,000 to $500,000.

The odds of making it to the Big Spin wheel are one in 1,090,600.

Cheswick said that as soon as he knew he was going to the Prize Centre, he went to his wife Karen’s workplace to share the news. “I said, ‘Tell me you love me.'”

Along treating his wife and himself to a vacation in Aruba, Cheswick intends to share some of his winnings with his four adult sons and have some renovations done on his home.
