A Calgary man died Friday while skiing at Whitefi Charles "Chuck" Douglas James Herr, 56, was skiing with friends when they became separated and he was reported missing. His body was found in a tree well by members of Whitefish Mountain Resort Ski Patrol about 3:15 p.m. near the top of the mountain. "Any death at our resort is a tragedy and felt deeply by the entire Whitefish Mountain Resort community," resort officials said in a statement to CBC News.

The B.C. Coroner’s Service is investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy after an incident in a hot tub at a popular ski resort.

Just before 4 p.m. on Friday, paramedics were called to the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, around 14 kilometres west of Golden, B.C., after receiving reports of a possible drowning in a hot tub.

Police say a 14-year-old boy from Toronto was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

“At this time the death does not appear to be suspicious,” said Const. Spencer Lainchbury of the Golden-Field RCMP detachment.

Police were notified of the incident just before 5 p.m. and Lainchbury said the B.C. Coroner’s Service is investigating the death with assistance from the RCMP.

In a statement, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort offered their condolences to the boy’s loved ones.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends,” the resort said.
