A man has died after being pinned behind an unmanned vehicle in Canmore , Alta. The car rolled across the alley, pinning the man between the car, a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino, and another vehicle parked in the alley.

RCMP have launched an investigation into a man’s death after he was found pinned between two vehicles in Canmore.

Just before 5 p.m. on Friday, emergency crews responded to a crash with a pedestrian in the 1200 block of 2nd Avenue. RCMP say a 48-year-old man was pinned between his 1966 Chevy El Camino and his neighbour’s recreational vehicle..

Cpl. Sabrina Clayton with the Canmore RCMP said the man was doing mechanical work on his car in a residential garage at his family home when the unmanned vehicle began rolling down a small driveway, trapping the man between his car and an RV parked across the alleyway.

The man was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Clayton said the man was the only person home at the time of the incident but the man’s family has been notified of his death. His identity will not be released.

She said doing potentially dangerous mechanical work on vehicles shouldn’t be done alone.

“One of the better ideas is to have someone with you, or someone who knows what you’re doing,” she said.

Police continue to investigate what led to the incident and the Canmore RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 403-678-5516.
