  Couple sue Calgary Police Service over investigation into daughter's death A couple are suing the Calgary Police Service over its investigation into the death of their four-year-old daughter. Avayah Toulon died after being struck by a pickup on May 6, 2016, at an intersection.In the statement of claim, Craig and Samantha Toulon say police released incorrect information about the collision, including that the driver stopped before the intersection and was waved through by one of the parents.They claim this resulted in the dropping of charges against the driver and sparked hatred, ridicule and contempt toward the family.

Buffalo - A transit bus driver is being credited for saving 10 people asleep inside a burning home in Buffalo, New York. He says he stopped the bus , ran to the house and banged on the front door. The noise awoke the 10 people sleeping inside the two- family home.

A Calgary bus driver is being hailed as a "godsend" for saving a sleeping family from a northeast house fire early Tuesday morning.

"We were all sleeping and I guess the bus driver who does this route, he was just finishing up his last run and he drove around the community on the run and he thought he smelled smoke," said Marsha Bastarache, who lives in the home in the Redstone neighbourhood with her son and his family.

"So then he came back around again and he noticed the fire out front," said Bastarche of the fire, which broke out around 1 a.m.

COLLEGE PARK, MD (WCMH) — A school bus driver saved almost two dozen kids from a burning school bus on Tuesday. Reneita Smith was on her last route of the day when the bus started making noises.

Assi asked the bus driver to stop after he saw smoke coming from the house . Assi was able to free Zach from the burning house by opening up a sliding door in the back and calling for him. Thanks to the teen’s efforts, Zach, the dog that Assi calls family , was saved .

"So he was banging on the doors really loud and he woke me up and I went to the door and he said, 'The front of your house is on fire, get out.'"

The family got out, grabbing a pet rabbit and dog on the way. They were sheltered in the bus as the fire department extinguished the flames.

"The firemen, after it was pretty well over, came and told us that if the bus driver hadn't of seen the fire, we would have probably lost the house and our lives at the same time," said Bastarache.

A city spokesperson identified the driver as Vincent Fleck.

"I think he is a godsend," said Bastarache.

"He's definitely got his angel wings. He earned them last night, I tell ya."
