Toronto police are looking for two men wanted for allegedly stealing from an Airbnb-rented condominium unit in downtown Toronto in February.

Police said one of the men rented a condominium unit on Richmond St. W. and Simcoe St. from a woman on Airbnb on the evening of Feb. 3.

She found the unit damaged when she returned the next day and a large number of personal items were allegedly stolen, including jewelry, high-end clothing, shoes, and a chequebook, police said.

Two men then allegedly attempted to deposit the stolen cheques into ATMs.

Police released security images of the suspects on Wednesday. One of the men is described as having facial hair, wearing a dark-coloured winter jacket with the hood up. The other is described as wearing a dark-coloured Hollister winter jacket with the hood up.

Airbnb says they are fully co-operating with the Toronto police investigation.

In an email, spokesperson Lindsey Scully said Airbnb has “permanently banned the individual involved from our platform and have been working with our host to support them under our $1 Million Host Guarantee program.”

The program covers listings for up to $1 million in damage. It is free and available for all hosts and bookings.
