Police say five people are dead after a two - vehicle crash near a small town south of Edmonton. Wetaskiwin RCMP said the collision happened at Highway 2A and Township Road 472, about five kilometres south of Millet , Alta., around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Wetaskiwin RCMP are investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed five people Tuesday afternoon.

The collision happened at 4:15 p.m. approximately five kilometres south of Millet, Alta.The five people who died were all in the same vehicle.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene while another was brought to hospital but later died. 

RCMP cannot confirm the identities of the victims or if the victims were related.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and is being treated in hospital.

The two vehicles involved were a Pontiac Sunfire and an SUV, said RCMP Cost. Patrick Lambert.

RCMP said Highway 2A at Township Road 472 re-opened around 8:45 p.m.

Lambert said the investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. 

Cyclist dead after collision and possible shooting .
A cyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle and possibly shot Saturday afternoon in the Dundas and Dufferin area, Toronto police said.Police said they received the call around 5:30 p.m. The male cyclist was unconscious and not breathing when they arrived at Frankish and Sheridan Aves.Paramedics said that it was possible the man had been shot, as he appeared to have gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he later died. Paramedics said they do not know whether it was the gunshot wounds or the collision that caused the cyclist’s death.
