York regional police say they were called after the woman was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition on April 18, 2017 following non-surgical cosmetic treatment in a private residence. Const. Laura Nicolle says the woman died hours later from what a post-mortem exam concluded were "medical complications" connected to the cosmetic procedure.

They showed a woman driving a vehicle down the highway “at a high rate of speed,” police said, on several different occasions, with one notable detail: her three-year-old daughter was sat in her lap, steering the vehicle for her, with no visible seat belts on either of them.

The mother filmed the videos with her cellphone, police say.

Police have notified Children’s Aid Society of the incident.

The woman is facing nine charges, including careless driving, failing to wear a seatbelt, and failing to provide the necessities of life. She was released after her arrest with a promise to appear in court.

Police are not releasing the identity of the mother in order to protect the child.
