June 9, at 9:40 p.m., a pregnant woman was waiting near a washroom in the Toronto Eaton Centre with her back against the wall, when a man walked by and allegedly elbowed her in the stomach, Toronto police said.The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She was released shortly after.On the evening of Tues. June 12, Lander Donee, 50, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Shoppers inside Eaton Centre found themselves in the middle of a rainstorm inside the mall amid a severe thunderstorm warning for Toronto and surrounding regions.

Environment Canada issued the warning just after 4 p.m. calling for the possibility of very strong wind gusts, heavy rain and up to nickle-sized hail. The weather agency says it is tracking a cluster of storms moving eastward at approximately 75 km/h.

Toronto police say they have received an influx of weather-related calls Wednesday afternoon, including reports of downed wires and trees.

The following areas are in the path of the storms: Milton, Burlington, Brampton, Oakville, Mississauga, Vaughan, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Markham and Pickering.

Wind gusts could reach 90 to 100 km/h, which "can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles," the agency warned earlier.
