Michael Buble is looking forward to the holidays, and for good reason.

A source tells ET that the 42-year-old singer and his family are in a much better place after experiencing a "tense time" after Buble's son, Noah, was diagnosed with cancer in November 2016.

"This time last year, the holidays were a tense time for the Buble family," the source shares. "When Noah received a cancer diagnosis, Michael immediately made the decision to step away from his work. It was really a scary time for everyone."

Buble and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, who are also parents to 1-year-old son Elias, remained optimistic about their son's treatment, and now, the source says that 4-year-old Noah is "doing very well." "He's an energetic little boy!" the source reveals, adding that the experience brought the whole family closer together. "Events like this put everything in perspective...There's no doubt Christmas will be extra special at the Buble household this year."

MICHAEL Buble has had a traumatic few months after his young son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer . But how is the little one doing and how is the family coping? Here' s all you need to know

THE uncle of Noah Buble – the three year-old son of superstar singer Michael Buble – says the youngster is “ doing very well ” in a rare family insight into his progress after treatment for liver cancer .

According to the source, Buble is also back to his old self and "in a really good head space right now." The singer, who took nearly a year off to focus on his son's health, is now ready and excited to jump back into multiple projects.

Buble will be hosting the 2018 Juno Awards in his hometown of Vancouver in March, after pulling out of the show last year. "This is really important to him. It's not only a chance to celebrate Canadian artists, but it's also right in his backyard, since he lives in Vancouver," the source explains, sharing that he'll be very hands on with the show.

The singer also announced last month that he will be performing again next summer with two shows, one in Ireland and one in London. ET's source says that Buble, whose family continues to be his top priority, "doesn't want to be on the road for a large chunk of time, but he's eager to get back on the stage."

Lopilato broke her silence on Noah's cancer diagnosis in July, revealing that "the worst is over" for her little boy.
