Hurley, an 8-year-old pup, was out for a walk with his owner Adam Shore on Liverpool’s Crosby Beach when the pair began playing fetch.
At one point, the confused pup spotted a human figure and dropped the ball at its feet.
But, he didn’t quite understand the man was a statue, a part of an installation by British sculptor Antony Gormley entitled, “Another Place.”
"This is the first time he’s tried to play with a statue," Shore told Caters News. "It was quite funny when he went up to it, and at one point, he looked at me to ask, 'What’s going on?' He's not used to being ignored."

Adorable border collie is left baffled after trying to play fetch with a STATUE on a beach. Eight-year-old border collie Hurley was playing fetch while out for a walk with his owner Adam Shore on Crosby Beach in Liverpool.
Hurley continued to tempt the sculpture to play with him, wagging his tail at its feet and jumping around, gesturing toward the ball.
"That’s Hurley all over. He’s 8 years old now, but he still thinks he’s a puppy,” Shore said. "He’s addicted to fetch and will play it with anyone. He’ll carry the ball up to everybody he sees to get them to throw the ball, usually when I’ve grown tired after an hour of playing."
He said it took about a minute before Hurley's attention span ran out, and he brought his ball to a more willing participant.
