Another major, another adventure for Jordan Spieth.

Spieth made the turn at 1-over after shooting a 36 Friday at the PGA Championship, and then literally made a mess of the par-5 10th hole at Quail Hollow.

The 24-year-old blasted his tee shot way right of the fairway onto the cart path, leading to another rules situation for the three-time major winner.

The Texan asked an official what he was permitted to remove before taking his free drop, and that's when the Open champ got the answer he was looking for. The official reminded Spieth that since the pine straw wasn't secured to the ground, and not alive or growing, he was allowed to remove the debris before dropping his ball.

After PGA win, let Thomas-Spieth rivalry begin

After PGA win, let Thomas-Spieth rivalry begin After PGA win, let Thomas-Spieth rivalry beginA month ago Justin Thomas swigged beer from the Claret Jug won at the British Open by his good friend, Jordan Spieth. On Sunday, by winning the PGA Championship, Thomas joined Spieth as the youngest winners of a major currently on Tour, both of them just 24 years old.

Spieth wins Open for 1st time after wild back 9. Spieth played the final five holes in 5 under and closed with a 1-under 69 for a 3- shot victory over Matt Kuchar, giving him the third leg of the career Grand Slam and a chance next month at the PGA Championship to be the youngest to win them all.

His day at the 98th PGA Championship nearly ended in a rules snafu. Spieth ’s tee shot ended up in a puddle on a cart path. For nearly 10 minutes — and with no less than four drops to find relief — Spieth spoke with a rules official concerning all his options.

Spieth would fire his second attempt through the fairway into the left pine straw, and would need two more attempts from the needles, before hitting his fourth just shy of the green.

The world No. 2 would chip up and salvage a bogey.

Josh Donaldson seems ready to carry Toronto Blue Jays on his back .
At least one player is heating up, and it’s the player the Jays need to heat up to have any chance of doing anything this year . Josh Donaldson, the 2015 AL MVP, has recorded 11 extra base hits (five doubles, six homers) over his past 20 games and is first in the AL with 27 walks — three of those coming on Wednesday — since July 1. He is hitting .342 with runners in scoring position over his past 32 games. In the Jays’ 4-2 victory over the Yankees on Tuesday, the Bringer of Rain hit two home runs, the 12th multi-homer game of his career and second this season.
