Mariners' Servais: Gordon won't move to 2B after Cano's injury

Mariners' Servais: Gordon won't move to 2B after Cano's injury Dee Gordon is staying put in center field. Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais said the speedy outfielder will not revert to his familiar position at second base after Robinson Canofractured his hand in Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. "Not at this point," Servais said when asked if Gordon is being considered as Cano's replacement, according to Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times. "We'll have to see wait and see what’s best for the ballclub and how long Robbie is going to be out and make decisions from there. We'll look at other internal options at second base and go from there.

Bonifacio's 80 - game suspension is reportedly for boldenone, a banned performance-enhancing substance. Only two players were suspended for PEDs during the 2017 season—Pirates outfielder Starling Marte and Astros pitcher David Paulino, both of whom also received 80 - game bans.

In a surprising and baffling bit of news, the league has announced Starling Marte has been suspended 80 games for testing positive for Nandrolone, a steroid. Marte released the following statement

Robinson Cano, who recently suffered a fracture in his hand after being hit by a pitch, will reportedly have plenty more time to heal up after being suspended 80 games for violating the MLB joint drug agreement.

Tuesday morning, Hector Gomez reported Cano would be suspended for steroid use. Not long afterward, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic confirmed that report, noting the length of the suspension.

Cano has appeared in 39 games thus far for the Seattle Mariners this year. He’s batting .287 with four home runs, 23 RBI and 24 runs scored.

The Mariners are currently third place in the American League West, just 1.5 games behind division leader Los Angeles. Losing Cano will certainly test this team over the course of the next few months.

Singh stands by decision to expel Erin Weir .
OTTAWA - NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is standing by his decision to expel Saskatchewan MP Erin Weir from caucus even though his original accuser, fellow MP Christine Moore, has herself been suspended from her duties over allegations of sexual misconduct. Singh says the investigation into the harassment complaints against Weir was impartial and independent, and the fact it was Moore who flagged his behaviour as a concern is "not relevant at all.
