The Toronto Raptors are leaning towards assistant Nick Nurse as the favorite to land their vacant head coaching job, league sources told TSN's Josh Lewenberg.

Nurse has already been interviewed for the post, and a report last month indicated the Raptors were taking a close look at promoting the 50-year-old. Toronto continues to talk to other candidates, reportedly including Lithuanian coach Sarunas Jasikevicius most recently. The Raptors fired Dwane Casey on May 11, four days after the Cleveland Cavaliers completed a second-round sweep of an uninspired Raps squad.

Nurse has been with Toronto since 2013, and as their lead offensive assistant was primarily responsible for the overhaul last season from an isolation-heavy attack to a more egalitarian, pass-happy offense.
