Team Mexico may have itself a strong reinforcement for the World Baseball Classic.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez could join the national side if Mexico manages to progress past the opening group stage, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

Sanchez would add considerable firepower to a Mexico rotation, which only features two bona fide starters in Jaime Garcia and Miguel Gonzalez. In 30 starts last season for the Blue Jays, the 24-year-old right-hander posted a 3.00 ERA while winning 88.2 percent of his starts and allowing just 0.7 home runs per nine innings, all top marks in the American League.

Stroman worked out of a couple of jams without serious damage and allowed just one extra-base hit, but the typically potent Jays offense could not pick him up versus Alex Meyer. The right-hander has now rattled off five quality starts in his last seven tries and has lowered his ERA to 4.50. If Sanchez does suit up for Mexico, he wouldn't be the only Blue Jays pitcher on the team. Closer Roberto Osuna has also committed to playing in the tournament.

Mexico will be part of Pool D along with Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Italy, which it opens the competition against on March 9.
